When you subscribe to the newsletter
We ask for your email address and nothing else. No name, no phone number.
When you visit the website
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records which pages you visit, how long you spend on them, the kind of device you're using and roughly which country you're in. If you reject them, it doesn't run at all. Cloudflare, which protects the site, checks visits and form submissions for bots, and that involves your IP address and basic browser details. Your saved jobs, job preferences and settings stay in your own browser and never reach us.
Your email address is used for one thing: sending you the Crosswind Careers newsletter. We don't use it to market other products to you, build a profile of you, or hand it to anyone for their own use.
Analytics shows us which articles and pages people find useful, so we write more of those and less of the rest.
A few companies handle data for us, and only to run the parts of the service below:
• When you subscribe, Webflow (which hosts the site) receives your email address, Make (an automation service) passes it on, and Beehiiv stores it and sends you each edition.
• When you browse, Cloudflare protects the site from bots and attacks, and Google Analytics measures visits, but only if you've accepted analytics cookies.
Some of these companies, including Google and Beehiiv, store data in the US. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK-US data bridge or the UK's international data transfer agreement. We don't sell data and we don't share it with advertisers. If an edition of the newsletter carries a sponsor, it's clearly labelled, and the sponsor never receives subscriber details.
Under UK GDPR:
• The newsletter relies on your consent, which you give when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.
• Analytics also relies on your consent, which you give through our cookie banner and can change at any time on the Cookie Policy page. Bot protection and site security rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe and working.
We keep your email address for as long as you're subscribed. When you unsubscribe, the emails stop straight away, and if you ask us we'll delete your address completely. Google Analytics keeps usage data for up to 14 months and then deletes it automatically.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
• See what data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Ask us to delete your data.
• Withdraw your consent at any time, for the newsletter or for analytics cookies.
• Object to anything we do on the basis of legitimate interest.
• Make a complaint to the ICO (ico.org.uk) if you believe we've mishandled your data.
To use any of these rights, email hello@crosswindcareers.com. We'll reply within one month, as the law requires.
We use a small number of cookies, and analytics cookies only with your permission. Our Cookie Policy at crosswindcareers.com/cookie-policy lists each one and lets you change your choice.
If we change how we handle your data in a way that matters, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the change affects subscribers, we'll mention it in the newsletter too.
