We use cookies in three categories: strictly necessary (can't opt out), analytics (can opt out), and newsletter-related (can opt out). We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We have no commercial reason to follow you around the internet.
These are set by Webflow, the platform we use to run the site. They handle basic site functions — things like session management and security. Without them, the site doesn't work properly.

Google Analytics 4
GA4 tells us how many people are visiting the site, which pages they read, how long they spend on them, and roughly where they're located. The data is aggregated and anonymised — we can see that 200 people read a particular article this week, but we can't see who those 200 people are.
You can opt out of analytics cookies when you first visit the site. If you've already accepted them and want to change your mind, clear your cookies in your browser settings and choose your preference when the banner reappears.
Google also provides an opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout if you'd prefer a more permanent solution.
If you interact with the newsletter signup form on the site, Beehiiv (our newsletter platform) may set a cookie to remember whether you've previously signed up. This only applies if you visit the signup form.
No advertising cookies. No retargeting pixels. No third-party tracking that follows you to other websites. We don't sell advertising space and we have no reason to build a profile of you beyond understanding how our own content performs.
Most browsers let you view, block, and delete cookies in their settings:

• Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
• Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
• Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies
Blocking analytics cookies won't affect how the site looks or works — you just won't be counted in our usage data. If you block strictly necessary cookies, some site functions may not work as expected.
If we start using new types of cookies, we'll update this page before we deploy them. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
