Understanding Our Cookies

We use two kinds of cookies: a few the site needs to run, and Google Analytics, which only switches on if you click Accept on our cookie banner. Some features also save your preferences on your device, like the jobs you've bookmarked. We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we don't sell information about you to anyone.

Webflow, which hosts the site, and Cloudflare, which protects it, set a small number of cookies to keep the site secure and stop bots spamming our sign-up forms. One example is _cfuvid, which Cloudflare uses to tell real visitors apart from automated traffic.
They don't follow you to other websites, and the site can't run safely without them, so the banner doesn't ask about them. You can still block them in your browser, but parts of the site, like the newsletter form, may stop working.

Google Analytics 4
If you click Accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_X328V4NM61. They tell us how many people visit, which pages they read and for how long, and roughly which country they're in. We see totals, like 200 people reading an article this week, not who those people are. Google Analytics doesn't log or store your IP address.
If you click Reject, or ignore the banner, Google Analytics never loads. You can change your answer at any time with the Cookie settings button at the bottom of this page. Switching to Reject also deletes any analytics cookies we set before.
Google also offers a browser add-on that blocks Google Analytics on every website, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Some features save information in your browser's local storage instead of a cookie. That covers your cookie choice (so we only ask once), the jobs you've saved or marked as applied, your job preferences and settings, and whether you've already subscribed (so we stop showing you sign-up boxes). It stays on your device, never gets sent to us, and isn't used to track you. Clearing your browser data deletes all of it.

No advertising cookies, no retargeting pixels, and nothing that follows you around other websites. We don't sell ad space, so we've no reason to build a profile of you.

Most browsers let you view, block, and delete cookies in their settings:
• Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
• Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
• Safari: Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data
• Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies

Blocking analytics cookies doesn't change how the site looks or works. You just won't show up in our visitor numbers. Blocking the strictly necessary ones may stop some features working.

If we start using a new type of cookie, we'll update this page before it goes live and change the date at the top.
